Laura has been a professional gilder for ten years. Experience in the picture framing industry exposed her to the tradition of gilding when she started working at a full-service establishment in New York City. There, she became friends with a master gilder who cultivated Laura’s interest. Her innate ability allowed her to excel at the craft, and it soon became a career. After many years spent restoring antiques, Laura’s vision has turned to re-creating historical sources in a modern context.

Her pieces are painstakingly handcrafted, employing techniques and materials that gilders have used for centuries. Each frame is hand-carved and joined, then finished using genuine gold leaf. This process enhances its unique qualities, making it truly one of a kind. Laura’s artwork is primarily inspired by forms found in nature, as well as by anthropological, archeological and biological sources.

She has been privileged to create pieces for several national museums throughout the country, and for private collections. Laura gladly considers special requests and custom orders. Consultations and pricing are available upon request.
